Power Tour next week

Unlike last year, this year I will make it to the Power Tour as it has it's beginning in Madison. Last year we watched the cars roll in all day long and then followed them in. Traffic was a mental breakdown as the Interstate was closed due to flooding and everything was being routed down Hwy. 14 to Madison. It was crazy. Overheating issues, then plugging a fuel filter tight as the E85 and the extreme hot weather managed to not play well in traffic. Thankfully I made it home, all though it was a slow ride home.

My plan of attack if I could call it that is as follows.

Thursday Night. Quaker Steak and Lube. Run in around 4:30 or so with the Edsel, yes, the Edsel. I haven't taken it in there yet and I think it would be a good night for it.

Friday. About Noon drive in with the Camaro and spend the day there as it sounds like there will be goings ons all day long at Quaker Steak and Lube and around Madison. Friday night possibly hitch a ride with a friend to East Wash and watch the cruise action. Why not take the Camaro you ask? I plan on having a few drinks during the day. Get done on the Wash and back to the car late, I'll be cleaned out and ready to go home.

Saturday. After Soccer in the morning for William I will head over to Black Earth with the 60' and follow Brett in with his Monte Carlo. Spend the afternoon watching the cars roll in then head home early and possibly up to Mt. Horeb for their summer frolic with Beer Tents, Softball, and kids rides.

Sunday. Recover.

I just cringe thinking of the passing of another wonderful Muscle Car boom. It is like the world has kicked me in the junk twice, first for missing the late 60's and second for seeing the end of the new Muscle Era.

This first era.....









It died a brutal death at the hands of big government. Nader and his safety Nazi's. Insurance Companies freaking out over high Horsepower and then the change and adding of new emission standards and the sudden drop of Horsepower.









And now here we are again. Another wonderful boom in the Muscle Car wars, awesome cars that put the excitement back into driving. Putting people into the Dealers to see these bad ass toys and then appreciating the companies build some awesome Iron.

I sure hope it doesn't end....

Automotion 09'

Sunday the Wife and I took Brock and William up to Noah's Ark. Not to play in the water but to look at all the cars they had there for Automotion 2009'.

Wonderful selection of cars on hand. Brock was particular to any lifted 4x4 truck with massive mud tires. He loved seeing if the tire was taller then he was and in most cases they where. He also enjoyed finding all the Camaro's and telling me "they are just like yours, Dad."

William enjoyed the food, and lots of it. He is like a garbage disposal, taking in anything and everything and always hungry. He also loved the Fire Truck that let us ride up in the Boom and get this picture.











Great Show. I do miss the show being downtown on the city streets but considering the amount of cars that show up, this is the only place it could be.

Also, one of my favorites happened to be a "Dukes of Hazard" Charger that had a pair of rear tires as bald as a baby's backside. I talked to the owner and he mentioned that Saturday night was a good time in the Dells.

Saturday Fun

The day started with a trip to Symdon Motors in Mt. Horeb. Troy and I wanted to take a peek at the new 2010 Chevy Camaro they had on hand. This one is a Black, 3.6L "LT" with a automatic transmission. The car is simply gorgeous in person. GM hit a home run with the Camaro. The exterior is so similar to the first generation Camaro. The interior gauge panel and layout is also a throw back. For me the seats where perfect, roomy but still tight. The V-6 also had the nice feature of true duel exhaust. We couldn't go for a test drive, which wasn't a surprise. If they where giving test drives the car would never be there.












Next up was a cruise with the Cheese Wheel Group out of Beaver Dam. They put on a 65 mile cruise through the hills of Blue Mounds, Mt. Horeb, the town of Mazomanie, Vermont, Black Earth and Cross Plains and then ending in Middleton at Quaker Steak and Lube. Some really awesome and fun cars showed up. In particular three Roush Mustangs, a Honda Civic, Subura Impreza, a Evo and the 67' Corvette convertible that is always at QSL.

The Cheese Wheel guys are a great bunch and do a 450 mile cruise for Charity. We are figuring if we can make that one or not. I'm not sure I'd take the two gas guzzlers that is for sure. Regardless, great time and I thank them for letting us roll with them.































Yes, I look like a Tool, but a very happy and content Tool thank you very much.

More for the Cobra

Just for Dan, I did some looking, measuring, and thinking. A "Huffer" atop that 347 will fit just fine.
