The Hunt for Red October.

Troy's hunt for a "project car" is turning into the main theme from "The Hunt for Red October".

It started with a list from people that know Troy, those of us at the shop and friends who frequent our facility after hours. The list was one that scattered the automotive globe, Bimmers, Chevy's, odd ball makes and models. Just like in the movie, no one had any real idea what was going on at first. We just knew that the Captain had wants to do something crazy.

Then the Austin Healey was chosen and those of us on board thought we had the answer. Much like the crew of the Red October there was a small group who had a better idea what was going on. We ran off to find a Healey, searched the Internet, looked at a basket case buried in snow but nothing came about. The idea went back into hiding.

Then a curve ball was thrown at everyone and now the idea of a Corvair is being floated by Troy as to the car of his choice. Again we go on a chase and look at a Corvair 500 Sport Coupe that was on consignment at Benchmark Classics off of PD near Verona.

We looked the car over and drooled at some other rides there. As with the Red October others where becoming aware of Troy's intentions and the possibility of his car choice being sunk may arise if he doesn't choose soon. Not by choice of anyone else, but by Troy himself.

So now a Jack Ryan (me) needs to board the ship(Troy's brain), figure out what is going on, then try to communicate with the Red October(find a proper car) to get it to safety(the shop) before it is really sunk.(Troy becomes frustrated and gives up)

I just hope he doesn't want to move to Montana.
