Brock the Mechanic

Maybe when I am old and grouchy like another Ruland I know I'll have my youngest around to work for me. Brock has taken a great interest in anything mechanical lately and has torn apart everything he can get his hands on. I've been finding tools in the yard, under the benches and in his toy boxes in the house. I don't know how he did it but he managed to also take apart one of my socket wrenches. Thankfully it was a low cost Stanley and not a $100 dollar Snap-On.

We worked Sunday on the old 1983 Honda 110cc Three Wheeler that I've had since I was 12. The carb was gummed up from sitting to long so we brought in into the garage, torn everything apart and cleaned it all up. William was around for a little while observing but once the grease and gas started to fly he swooped for the football in the yard and stayed away until we had it up and running. Brock held in like a trooper and also put a few twist and turns to screws for me.

Rain rain go away

If you haven't all ready heard, the Midwest has been getting pounded with rain since around this time last week. It's finally taken a toll locally with a culvert going out about a 1/2 mile up the road from my house. The culvert has been there forever as far as I know. At least longer then I've been alive. It brings and lets water out of the farm ditches near my house. From the size of the hole it looks like that stretch of road will be closed for a good amount of time. No big deal, to get to Sauk City and Highway 12 I'll just have to backtrack to Racek road and go up Hwy 78. It's sure to confuse the nudists coming from Hwy 12 to the Mazo nude beach though. They'll get to see some more countryside now.

It's not the end of the world as some seem to think. I was jumped by a guy when I went around the road block. I was going around it so I could get to my house. Of course he threw a fit so I gave him a choice. Go bother someone else or bring my house to me. I of course said that in the most polite voice I could come up with :)

Anyhoo, more rain forecast for this evening. Better get dad's boat ready ;)

Pics from our Cruise

Last Thursday we of course went to Quaker Steak for a cruise. It was crazy busy since the Goodguys where in town for the car show. I was happy we went because all this past weekend it rained like crazy so I never caught the show. We also where lucky to get there when we did since the lot filled up not to long after our arrival. I took a few quick shots when we where there. Sorry I didn't get more of specific cars but I was to busy having a good time.

Little of everything

Our work load at the shop has been very steady, to the point of busy, for the last few weeks so not much else is going on in life. Dad has taken some time to start wiring the Edsel engine bay. He has made some changes to a few things. Adding a electronic ignition system instead of the old points style. This will make things run smoother and have less chance of a break down due to points that have some rust, condensation or stuck due to the car not being driven daily.

We've also refurbished the gauge package that Uncle Everett added to the car. He has a oil pressure, temperature and amp meter setup that in the original location on the dash. I guess he didn't trust the original Edsel gauges or must have had problems with them. They look good in there we decided to keep them.

I decided just now that tonight I am getting out of here early and heading on a cruise back to Quaker Steak in Middleton. I've had a long day all ready and I called the wife and got her blessing for me to go out and get in trouble. I'm hoping it will be a busy night in there since the Goodguys Rod and Custom show is coming to the Alliant Energy center in Madison. I hope the weather holds out this weekend because I'd like to take the family in and see the show.

I also hope I remember to take my Camera with tonight and take some pictures of all the cars we see.

Til next time.

Bimmer AutoX

Finally dug these video's out of my hard drive at work and put them up on Youtube.com

Only took me 4 years---insert eyeroll-----

Bj autocrossing at Columus 151 Speedway.

There are a few more of Troy and I at Columbus 151, Rockford, and Sugar River. Just hit Youtube and search for "Bj autocross" or "Troy autocross". Glad Troy reminded me I had these. It was our first year and we shared "Rookie of the Year" honors that year. Once he gets back around the area I'm sure we will get back into it.
