New Rockers

Finally, parts. Our new rocker panels arrived late last week. Dad spent a good amount of the Memorial Day holiday putting them in place, and getting everything straightened out. I spent the holiday down at Blackhawk Farms racing. Check out the Redhead's webpage and blog for how we did.

The rockers, great fit and finish from Mac's Automotive. www.macsautoparts.com is their webpage. At 33 or so bucks a side it was a no-brainer to buy them.

The Edsel is starting to actually look like a car again. With 400 some hours of work into, and most likely that much in beer. It will be interesting to see if we spend more drinking, or more on the car. Anyway, it is no matter. At least we are doing something constructive with our time, right?

Slooooow

Kind of slow on the Edsel front. We are in a mad dash to get the racing team prepped for the Memorial Day Weekend races at Blackhawk Farms.

Dad did manage to do some work on some frame pieces. The radiator support and underneath guard are sandblasted and treated with a rust inhibitor called POR15. Next we will get them painted the correct factory colors.

Double duty

As summer creeps up on us at Willie's we both can sense that Edsel work will be on the back burner.

On the last weekend of April we headed down to Jefferson Fairgrounds for the annual swap meet. This year I only noticed ONE mannequin. I was amazed, usually there are a dozen guys who think that the mannequin they have is the key item a guy is looking for when he is restoring his old car.

For the Edsel, we did alright. Two hubcaps for $12, a driver mirror for $10, 1958 Edsel repair manual for $45 and a original owners manual for $45. I think we did ok.

My double duty will be helping out over at www.redheadracing.net with their blog. If you have the time check things out over there. Should be a fun season of road racing.
