Backend Back on

Nice too see the schedule gods worked in our favor for once. Work was just slow enough to let dad have the time he needed to measure, cut, and place the new section for the back of the Edsel into place. A lot of measuring, and then some trimming. Re-hang the rear doors and front to make sure all the lines actually line up. Then tack welding, cleaning, remeasuring, and then final weld the tailend into place.

300 hours of labor invested into the restoration up to this post. Hey, only another 1700 or so to go!

Mid point

It kind of feels like a midway point to the project now. With the car at the above stage. The only way to go now is back together. Of course, get a slow spell in the schedule, start cutting the section apart and all hell breaks loose. I'm sure we will be busy now for a week.

I've never had a project torn apart this far. A whole new experience for me. Should be interesting when we start putting the new/used section into place. Wish us luck!

Half-assed update

Been catching flak from people, no updates. Well, nothing to update. The Edsel is still there, collection dust and wondering what we are doing leaving it alone. Work has been busy and summer has already hit in full force it seems.

Racing season is coming around the bend and that leads me to the picture above. www.redheadracing.net has enlarged it 's fleet . Who is redheadracing you ask? Visit his webpages darn it. Just kidding, but really, visit them and you'll learn more. Shawn is a friend I meet threw the Madison Sports Car Club and he helped myself, and my brother's feet get wet autocrossing our bimmer. After that first year I have helped him out at the track where he road races his 95 Civic. This year, a sweet hauler was added to carry his Civic, a Spec Miata, and when it is done, a CRX all for road racing in the Midwest Council of Sport Car's races threwout the Midwest. Should be a fun year.
